BR Down Hole Hammer
General Introduction
The BR down hole hammer is attached to the drill string and positioned just above the drill bit. Compressed air is directed into the hammer through the drill pipe, where it powers the piston mechanism inside the hammer.
The piston rapidly moves up and down, delivering high-impact blows to the drill bit, which in turn fractures the rock. The repetitive impact energy helps break through even the hardest materials like granite, basalt, and other tough rock types.
The DTH hammer operates by delivering high-frequency, high-impact blows to the rock while the drill bit rotates (usually through rotary drilling), ensuring effective penetration and drilling efficiency. The BR down hole hammer is available in 2.5 inch and 3 inch, which is suitable for drilling holes from 70mm to 115mm.

The DTH hammer operates by utilizing the combined function of these components. When the hammer is activated, compressed air flows through the top sub into the air distributor, which directs the air to the piston system. The piston delivers powerful, high-frequency impacts directly to the drill bit, while the guided sleeve ensures the piston moves smoothly and accurately. At the same time, the drive chuck provides the necessary rotation to the hammer to allow the bit to cut effectively through the rock.
Piston system. The piston system is the heart of the DTH hammer. When compressed air enters the hammer, it drives the piston, causing it to strike the drill bit with tremendous force. This high-impact action is what enables the DTH hammer to break through hard rock formations. The piston system is designed for maximum impact energy while maintaining a smooth, controlled motion for precision drilling.
The guided sleeve ensures that the piston moves smoothly and precisely within the hammer, preventing any misalignment or wear. It guides the piston along its path, ensuring it strikes the drill bit directly with maximum efficiency. The sleeve is often made from materials that offer a combination of strength, wear resistance, and heat resistance, as it is exposed to high-pressure air and friction during drilling.
The drive chuck is the component that provides the rotational movement needed for the hammer. It allows the hammer to rotate as the piston strikes the bit, ensuring that the drill bit maintains proper contact with the rock while drilling. This rotation ensures that the rock is fragmented evenly, enhancing the drilling process. The drive chuck also helps transfer torque from the drill string to the hammer.
